Wichita, KS - All-Star Game MVP Trevor Lawhorn continued his heroics by hitting a two-run home run in the 10th inning to lift the Sioux Falls Canaries (6-8) to a 4-2 extra inning win over the Wichita Wingnuts (5-10) on Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The Canaries took the lead in the top of the second inning. Patrick Reilly singled to get on base. With two outs, Ken Lup tripled to centerfield to score Reilly, and give the Birds a 1-0 advantage.

Wichita hit a home run in each the third and fourth inning to tie the game and then go ahead. In the third inning, Stephen Pearson hit his third home run of the season to even the score, 1-1. An inning later, Greg Porter hit his 11th homer of the year to put the Wingnuts in front, 2-1.

The Birds tied the game in the fifth inning. Cody Haerther doubled off the wall in right field to get in scoring position. One batter later, Beau Torbert singled to left field to bring home Haerther ahead of the relay throw. Haerther's run knotted the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the tenth inning. With one out, Cory Harris hit a high-bounding ball to the shortstop. A elevated bounce allowed, Harris to reach base with an infield single. Lawhorn then launched his two-run homer to give the Canaries a 4-2 win.

Ben Moore gave up two runs on five hits in eight innings while striking out 10 in a magnificent outing. However, the win went to Andrew Pluta (2-0) who pitched one solid inning for the Canaries in relief. Justin Young (1-2) suffered the loss for Wichita.
