
Canaries Stop Wingnuts in 10

Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts fell to the Sioux Falls Canaries, 4-2 in 10 innings, on Friday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 in the third, Wichita tied the game on Stpehen Pearson's third home run of the season and took a 2-1 lead on Greg Porter's 11th home run in the fourth. Sioux Falls tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Beau Torbert.
Other than the two homers, Wichita had two-men on base only one time in the game - the eighth - but Nick Blasi struck out to end the threat. In the 10th inning Trevor Lawhorn hit a two-run shot off Justin Young for the victory. Andrew Pluta recorded the win for Sioux Falls with Aaron Cotter recording his third save. Wichita starter Derek Blacksher pitched seven solid innings, while Sioux Falls starter Ben Moore threw eight strong. Neither factored in the decision.
The Wingnuts will host Sioux Falls again on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Brad Davis, who one-hit the Canaries in his last start, will take the mound for wichita against Ryan Ford. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
