Reno, NV - Reno's two-run eighth proved to be the difference in the ballgame, as Tacoma lost a heartbreaker by the score of 4-3 on Thursday at Greater Nevada Field.

With this loss, Tacoma falls to 48-56. The win for Reno brings their record to 45-59. Robby Scott (3-0) picked up the win for the Aces. Reggie McClain (3-4) took the loss for the Rainiers.

The Rainiers didn't score until the fourth inning when they were trailing, 1-0, and took the lead on Ryan Court's two-run homer.

The Aces then evened up the game at two before the Rainiers re-took the lead in the seventh inning. Tacoma picked up the go-ahead run on Jaycob Brugman's leadoff home run off Taylor Widener.

The Rainiers surrendered that lead as the Aces scored two runs over the remaining two innings to pick up the victory.

Hunter Strickland was a bright spot in relief for the Rainiers, throwing one shutout inning while limiting Reno to no hits, walking none and striking out two.

Court led the way offensively for Tacoma, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, marking the ninth time Court has gone yard this season. Brugman provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, his 13th long ball of the year. Ian Miller also helped out for Tacoma, going 1-for-4 with a double.

Sean Nolin came up just shy of a quality start, throwing 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on eight hits with no walks and five punchouts.

All told, Tacoma scored their three runs in the contest off of four hits, three of which went for extra bases, including two home runs. The Rainiers also drew four free passes from Reno pitchers.

The Rainiers are back in action on Friday at 7:05 PM PDT, when they'll continue their road trip in Sacramento against the River Cats. Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850 with audio streaming available on the Tacoma Rainiers TuneIn Radio Network.
