Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists fell to the Rome Braves on Thursday night by a final score of 8-6. Rome built a 7-1 lead before the Tourists reeled off five unanswered runs. The rally came up short but the entertaining game kept the fans involved until the end.
Rome's offense totaled 16 hits on the evening, including four from Riley Delgado. Austin Bush and Jefrey Ramos both finished with three hits and three RBI. Ramos hit a Home Run in the fifth that many in attendance considered foul.
The Tourists were led by Sean Bouchard and Bret Boswell. Both players ended up with three hits and Ramon Marcelino finished 2-for-5 with a Home Run. Chad Spanberger recorded a pair of doubles in the defeat.
Trailing 7-1, the Tourists rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Matt McLaughlin, Robbie Perkins, and Boswell all recorded RBI hits in the inning. Asheville was never able to fully overcome the deficit and Rome's insurance run in the top of the ninth was the final scoring play of the game.
Nate Harris pitched well out of the Tourists bullpen and tossed a season-high 3.2 innings to keep the Tourists within striking distance. Next up is a double-header against the Lexington Legends on Friday with game one scheduled to begin at 4:30pm.
