Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BOWLING GREEN, KY - Make it 4 wins in a row and a series sweep, as the Beloit Snappers used some late-inning heroics to take down the Hot Rods Friday night 5-4. Six Snappers collected at least one hit with Devin Foyle delivering a 3-run homer to pace the offense tonight.
For the second time this series, Bowling Green would strike first with a run in the first, but Beloit would answer right back. In the third, Beloit would get onto the scoreboard with a run of their own courtesy of Anthony Churlin.
John Jones would get the third inning started for Beloit with a one out single and Logan Farrar walked immediately after to put runners on first and second. Then, the aforementioned Anthony Churlin would lace a ball into right field to plate Jones and even the score at one.
The tie though would not last long, as Bowling Green responded with a run in the sixth inning. However, that would not hold Beloit down, as they put up a 3-spot in the eighth inning to take their first lead of the game, this time courtesy of the big fly.
In the eighth with two outs, Max Schuemann and Santis Sanchez would both work walks to set the stage for Devin Foyle. Down by 2, Devin Foyle would launch a ball over the right center field wall to give the Snappers their first lead of the game. The homer was Foyle's fourth on the season and third homer of the second half.
With the Snappers now leading by just one, Bowling Green would get the offense going again with a run in the eighth to tie the score up once more. This would not stop the resilient Beloit Snappers though, as they would make some magic happen in the ninth.
In the ninth, Joseph Pena and Cobie Vance would lead the inning off with walks, but after a double play, Beloit would have a runner on third with two outs. Logan Farrar then hit a ball to second base and Hot Rods second basemen Jonathan Aranda committed a throwing error allowing Pena to score the go ahead run in the ninth.
From there, Josh Reagan would take over pitching a perfect ninth inning to earn his second win on the year and secure the 5-4 victory for the Snappers.
The victory marks the fourth straight win for Beloit, as the Snappers will look to continue their winning ways up in Dayton, OH. Starting tomorrow, the Snappers will take on the Dragons in the first of three with first pitch from Dayton, OH scheduled for 6:00 P.M. CT.
