RHP Efraín Contreras vs. RHP Josh Roberson

Saturday, July 13 - NelsonCorp Field (Clinton, Iowa) - First Pitch 7:30 PM (Game 90 / 138)

LISTEN: John Nolan (ESPN Radio 1380 & 100.9 FM | TinCapsRadio.com | TuneIn)

LAST GAME: The TinCaps matched season highs for runs and hits in a 12-1 win at Burlington to snap a 3-game skid. Fort Wayne, which had only 1 run on 10 hits (1 extra-base hit) over its previous 3 games, erupted for 15 hits, including 2 doubles and 2 homers (Juan Fernandez 3-R, Michael Curry 2-R).

RUN IT BACK: The TinCaps' lineup tonight is nearly identical to last night, with the exception of Dwanya Williams-Sutton and Michael Curry swapping spots from DH to LF, and Lee Solomon replacing Luis Almanzar at 1B/8-hole.

IN CONTROL: TinCaps pitchers have the best ratio of strikeouts to walks in the MWL this season (3.09). 'Caps pitchers have also walked the fewest batters in the MWL, averaging only 3.0 per 9 innings. On Friday night, Omar Cruz started and struck out a career-high tying 10, while Austin Smith followed with 3 Ks in 3.1 IP. Meanwhile, Cruz walked only 1 and Smith none. Cruz became the 2nd TinCaps pitcher this season to K 10 in a game, joining Joey Cantillo.

SHUTTING THE DOOR: Fort Wayne's bullpen has been lights out the last 6 games, tossing 24.2 innings with 0 earned runs (2 unearned), 28 Ks, and only 10 hits and 5 walks.

260 TO THE SHOW: 2017 TinCaps reliever Andres Muñoz, 20, made his MLB debut on Friday night for the Padres in San Diego against the Braves. Muñoz pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout as his fastball reached 101 MPH. A couple years ago he was just 18 years old as he joined the 'Caps late in the season and pitched in 6 games, including 3 playoff games. Muñoz is the 184th former Fort Wayne player to reach the big leagues. See the next page for who else has debuted this season.

HAWKEYE HOMECOMING: Hitting coach Jonathan Mathews is from Centerville, Iowa, in the southern part of the state, about 3.5 hours southwest of Clinton. Mathews still calls Centerville home. Over the course of his career he's coached at Indian Hills Junior College in Centerville and the University of Iowa.

COACHING CONNECTION: Clinton's starter, Josh Roberson, pitched under TinCaps pitching coach Matt Williams at UNCW from 2015-17. This is the 2nd time in as many weeks that Williams and the 'Caps are facing a former Seahawks pitcher. Fort Wayne saw Alex Royalty of Lake County on July 3. Williams coached in Wilmington from 2014-18, reaching 3 NCAA Tournaments before joining the Padres this year.
