
Late Error Drops Nuts in 7-6 Loss

Modesto, CA. - Defense cost the Modesto Nuts in a tight 7-6 loss against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night at John Thurman Field.
With the game tied in the top of the ninth, Sam Moll (L, 0-1) recorded the first two outs before Marcus Davis collected a single. Ryan Miller followed and dribbled a ball down the third base line. Moll picked it up with his bare hand and threw it down the right field line to allow Davis to score the go-ahead run for the Storm (38-56, 7-17).
The Nuts (48-45; 15-9) had taken the lead in the sixth on Dillon Thomas' RBI triple with two outs. It was one of three hits and two RBI for Thomas. Ryan McMahon had a season-high four hits including a two-run homer in the first. Corey Dickerson, in his final rehab appearance with the Nuts, went 2-for-5 with two singles and a RBI.
Genison Reyes (W, 2-3) earned the win out of the bullpen. In the ninth, Jason Jester (S, 3/4) locked down the save for the Storm.
In the finale of the four-game set against the Storm on Tuesday night, the Nuts have a chance for a series victory.
