COMSTOCK PARK - Jeramy Laster reached base four times and scored twice to help Lauren Gagnier earn his first victory as the Whitecaps doubled-up Wisconsin, 6-3.
Laster went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. He also stole a base and walked twice.
Gagnier pitched five innings and allowed three runs (2 ER) on just two hits to earn the win. One of those hits was a two run homer by Greg Halman, which with two outs in the third inning was the first Wisconsin hit of the night.
West Michigan grabbed a 3-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first and another run in the second. The Timber Rattlers tied the game thanks to Halman's home run in the third and an RBI Single from Kuo Hui Lo in the fourth.
Ryan Strieby broke the 3-3 tie with an RBI triple in the fifth inning. Strieby came home to score on a hit by Santo De Leon to push the lead to 5-3. the final Whitecaps run was added in the eighth inning.
Jeff Gerbe (2 IP) and Josh Rainwater (1 IP) combined for three innings of shutout relief for the Whitecaps. Brett Jensen threw a perfect ninth inning to earn his fourth save in four opportunities on the season.
