Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal - Alouettes' Alumni Association's new President Éric Lapointe made his first official announcement today, naming the members of his executive committee.

Several former Alouettes representing the different eras of the history of the team will be part of his committee, as well as a few current Alouettes' executives. The members of his committee are:

Pierre Desjardins (1966-1971)

A former Alouette guard and current successful businessman, Desjardins will represent the first generation of Alouettes which was led by Sam Etcheverry, Hal Patterson and the many others who made several Grey Cup appearances and contributed to establishing the early foundations of the Alouettes following the team's inception in 1946.

Peter Dalla Riva (1968-1981)

Probably the most popular player of the Alouettes' most glorious era, Dalla Riva will represent the second generation of Alouettes which regularly attracted crowds of over 60,000 at Olympic Stadium and won three Grey Cups.

Doug Scott (1980-82, 1984-85)

A defensive tackle who played for both the Concordes and the Alouettes, Scott will represent the generation who played for Montreal's two franchises of the 80s.

Sylvain Girard (1999-2006)

The former Alouette receiver and one of the players who has the most involved in the community over the last decade, Girard, along with Alumni president Lapointe, will represent the latest Alouettes generation, which is responsible for the re-birth of football in Montreal and throughout Quebec.

Richard Blais (1973-1976, 1997-today)

The current Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the Alouettes, Blais will supervise the corporate side of the business and will work at building partnerships in order to create a strong association.

Louis-Philippe Dorais (1998-today)

Responsible for the Alouettes' communications for the last 10 years, Dorais will supervise the strategic objectives, communications and activities of the Association.

Benny « Alphabet » Oleszczuk (1974-1976, 1996-today)

A former Alouettes' director of logistics, Olesczcuk will continue his role as Director of the Alumni Association, a position he has filled with success over the last few years.

"I am proud of my team, which has been built to ensure we maintain a strong relationship with each generation of the Alouettes Alumni, while making sure we have competent and dedicated people in charge," Lapointe said. "This is our first public announcement as we embark on a long-term plan designed to continue to grow and become an important player in the Quebec community."

The association invites all Alouettes Alumni to communicate with Benny Olesczcuk at the Alouettes administrative office at 514-871-2266 or info@montrealalouettes.com to renew their membership to make sure they receive invitations to the Alumni Association events. The next event is the annual dinner, scheduled for Oct. 19, in the John Molson room of the Molson Brewery.
