
Lankinen, Sikura Propel Rockford Past Ramage

Rockford, Ill. Dylan Sikura netted the overtime-winner and Kevin Lankinen earned his first AHL win to lift the Rockford IceHogs to a 3-2 victory over San Antonio Rampage Sunday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The win snapped a franchise-long six-game home winless skid for the IceHogs.
Lankinen made a season-high 36 saves en route to to the victory. The rookie netminder was unbeaten in his four-game stint with the ECHL's Indy Fuel before claiming his first win with the IceHogs.
The IceHogs trailed past the midway point of the third period, but Graham Knott sparked a rally when he fired a slapshot past the blocker side of San Antonio goaltender Ville Husso with 6:49 remaining in regulation.
Sikura's winner came with 56 seconds left in the 3-on-3 overtime session. IceHogs forward Jacob Nilsson initiated the play by skating into the offensive zone with speed, then delivered a centering feed for Sikura to tap home from in front of the net.
After a scoreless first period, Nilsson gave the IceHogs their first lead of the game on a deflection at the 4:56 mark of the second frame. San Antonio would respond in the third, claiming a brief lead thanks to goals from Jordan Kyrou and Jordan Nolan.
Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 7 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins | 7 p.m.
The IceHogs host the Grand Rapids Griffins in a Friday-night matchup at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 1,000 fans in attendance ages 21-and-up will receive a free IceHogs cooler bag, courtesy of Bud Light.
