AUSTIN, TX - Keith Langford's steal with 16 seconds remaining in the game helped end the Bakersfield Jam's furious second half comeback and helped the Toros defeat the Jam 92-90 on Saturday night at the Austin Convention Center. Langford blocked a last second shot attempt by Jamison Brewer and helped the Toros win their first game of the 2007-08 season.

The Toros blew a 19-point advantage they built in the third quarter and saw Bakersfield take the lead 83-82 after Roderick Riley scored with 4:54 remaining in the fourth quarter. Toros big men Kevin Pittsnogle and San Antonio Spurs assignee Ian Mahinmi fouled out half way through the quarter.

"Bakersfield went zone and they slowed the game down, we just weren't attacking the zone well," Toros head coach Quin Snyder said. "The fouls on the big men were big for Bakersfield but it was big for us too because it helped raise our level of play."

Austin was led in scoring by Keith Langford, who scored 34 points and eight rebounds. Other Toros scoring in double figures included Justin Bowen (17) and Kevin Pittsnogle (11).

Spurs center Ian Mahinmi, playing in his second game since being assigned to the Toros, grabbed nine rebounds along with 11 points. Mahinmi also blocked three shots for Austin, who improves to 1-1 on the season.

Roderick Riley scored 17 points in 31 minutes of action for Bakersfield, who dropped to 0-1 after losing their first game of the season. The Jam play the second game of their four game road trip tomorrow night at Dodge Arena against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
