66ers' late comeback spoils Skyforce opener

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Nov. 24 - Ramon Sessions led the visiting Tulsa 66ers to a come-from-behind 117-109 victory on Saturday night against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Sessions, an NBA assignee from the Milwaukee Bucks, scored 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting to spoil Sioux Falls' season and home opener in front of the first sellout crowd since March 3, 2000.
Sioux Falls (0-1) led nearly the entire game and entered the fourth quarter with an 89-81 lead. However, Tulsa (2-0) was able to close the gap and take a 98-97 lead with 5:33 left in the game. That was Tulsa's first lead since 5:51 to go in the second quarter. Behind Sessions' and Adam Harrington's 10 fourth quarter points apiece, the 66ers outscored the Skyforce 36-20 in the final quarter.
"We played much better in the fourth quarter, and that's the key," said Tulsa head coach Joey Meyer. "He (Sessions) is a good player, he really wants to get better. He's shown me a lot in two games."
Sioux Falls started the game on a 17-6 run, much to the delight of the sellout crowd. Tulsa climbed their way back as Sioux Falls ended the first quarter up only three, 27-24. Sioux Falls looked as if they would pull away in the second as they scored 40 points in the quarter, capped off by a buzzer-beating three by Elton Nesbitt to send Tulsa to the locker room trailing 67-54.
Former University of Maryland forward Nik Caner-Medley led Sioux Falls with 30 points and 15 rebounds in his Skyforce debut. Returning players Antywane Robinson and Elton Nesbitt had solid games as they posted 24 and 23 points respectively.
Sioux Falls travels to take on the Austin Toros on Friday morning at 11 a.m. Tulsa plays their home opener on Friday night against the Colorado 14ers at 7 p.m.
