
Langford Homers But Frisco Drops Pitchers' Duel

AMARILLO, Texas - Wyatt Langford homered for the first time in his Double-A career but the Frisco RoughRiders did not score otherwise in a 2-1 loss on Tuesday to the Amarillo Sod Poodles from HODGETOWN.

Langford went 2-for-3 with a walk on Tuesday, homering to left center in the eighth inning to cut the 2-0 deficit in half. He also singled on an 0-2 pitch in the first inning and walked on a 3-2 pitch in the sixth.
Frisco (31-33, 62-70) now trails the season series to Amarillo (40-24, 74-59), 10 games to nine. With the win, the Sod Poodles clinched the second half title in the Texas League South Division and a playoff berth.
Noah Bremer (1-4) delivered five strong innings for Frisco in his start, allowing just two runs that both came in his final frame. The right-hander struck out five and gave up just four hits, three of them in his final inning. Bremer retired nine in a row at one point but suffered the loss.
Reid Birlingmair handled two innings of relief work, facing just one over the minimum in a scoreless stint. He struck out the side in order in the seventh.
Michael Brewer pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning with two strikeouts. Ten of the 24 outs Frisco recorded on the night were strikeouts.
Liam Hicks was the only Frisco player besides Langford to reach base twice, walking on two occasions. Josh Hatcher and Frainyer Chavez had singles, but the RoughRiders were limited to four hits overall and in four different innings.
Dylan Ray spun five shutout innings for Amarillo to earn the win. Raffi Vizcaino registered the save by pitching two innings and allowing one run.
The Riders continue the six-game series in Amarillo with a 6:35 p.m. game on Wednesday, Sept. 13th. RHP Dane Acker (1-1, 2.79 ERA) takes the ball for Frisco. Amarillo has not announced a starting pitcher.
