Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - The Omaha Lancers returned to the ice to face the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday night at Ralston Arena. The Lancers were hungry for a win heading into this matchup after a tough loss on Friday against Dubuque and a hard-fought overtime loss against Madison last Saturday. This was game one of the doubleheader weekend against the Gamblers.
In the first period, Hunter Carrick continued to be a lethal force from the blue line. Carrick took a pass from Brendan Furry to snipe the puck past goaltender Maksim Zhukov. Carrick scored his first career goal last week against Madison.
The Lancers continued to push the pace in the second period. Cole Gallant and Jack Randl lead the puck into a two-on-one. Randl passed it in front of Zhukov to Gallant who put the puck away to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
In the third period, the Lancers kept the attack up in full force. Midway through the third, Tyler Carpenter got on the board when he jammed the puck into the net. Minutes later, Ethan Price scored on a power play when he sniped the puck from the top of the circle past Zhukov. Then Travis Mitchell got his first goal as a Lancer for a final score of 5-0. Zach Driscoll was perfect in net stopping all 29 shots he faced giving him his third shutout of the 2017-18 season.
The Omaha Lancers return to the ice Saturday, November 11th to face the Green Bay Gamblers in game two of the doubleheader weekend at Ralston Arena. Tickets are still available and the game can be seen on Hockey TV and heard on KOIL News Talk 1290.
