Ralston, NE - Kenny Hausinger recorded a hat trick for the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday night and the Omaha Lancers were unable to tie the game late in regulation, suffering a 4-3 loss at Ralston Arena in front of 2,977 fans.

To start the game, Omaha put several chances on net that were all denied by goaltender Nick MacNab. Then, a power play opportunity helped Des Moines strike first to take a 1-0 lead. After Jacob Bryson was called for hooking, the following face-off was pulled back to James Gobetz at the point. Gobetz skated to his right and let a shot go from just inside the blue line that deflected off a Lancer and rolled by Kris Oldham for the Buccaneers' lead. The power-play goal was Gobetz's fourth of the year and came 9:01 into the game.

Kenny Hausinger dodged an attempted hip check by Lancers' defenseman Jake Massie in the neutral zone and moved down the right side of the ice. Hausinger fired a slap shot from the right wing circle that beat Oldham for a two-goal lead. Hausinger's eighth goal of the year was assisted by Justin Howell and Cody Keefer with 9:17 left in the first period.

A power play chance of their own helped the Lancers split the deficit in half during the second period. Nikita Pavlychev was ejected from the game and Des Moines hit with a five minute major penalty. Austin Alger took the puck and let a shot go from the hash marks that was stopped with the right leg pad by of Nick MacNab. The rebound went to MacNab's right and Nathan Krusko immediately lifted it under the cross bar for his eighth goal of the year. The goal came 13:36 into the period and was assisted by Alger with the original shot, along with Nick Jenny.

Hausinger struck again, this time on the man-advantage. After receiving a pass from the left side by Georgy Gorodetsky, Hausinger moved in all alone and placed the puck between the legs of Kris Oldham to take back a two-goal lead with just 1:44 left in the second period. Hausinger's second of the game and ninth of the year was assisted by Gorodetsky on the setup pass and Patrick Grasso.

Great work down below the goal line by John Wojciechowski helped the Lancers get back within one goal in the final period of regulation. Racing down the ice on the forecheck, Wojciechowski used the body to force a turnover. He immediately spun and sent the back-hand pass to an awaiting Austin Alger who fired it by the right leg bad of MacNab for his sixth of the year just 3:18 into the third. Wojciechowski recorded his fourth assist of the year with Jacob Bryson receiving his 16th.

The Lancers pulled Kris Oldham from the net for the extra-attacker late in the third period in an attempt to tie the game. Des Moines chipped the puck out to the neutral zone and Kenny Hausinger scored the easy tap-in goal for his third of the night with 0:38 left in the game to give the Buccaneers a 4-2 lead.

With just over 13 seconds left in the game, Josh French let a wrist shot go from the right wing circle, through traffic, that beat MacNab on the blocker side to once again get the Lancers a single goal away from tying the game. However, Omaha lost the center ice draw and Des Moines played the puck down the ice, ending the game as the Lancers fell 4-3.

Kris Oldham stopped 20 of 23 shots he faced in his fifth regulation loss of the year.

The Lancers have a home-and-home with the Lincoln Stars next Friday and Saturday night. Friday, on the road in Lincoln and back inside Ralston Arena on Saturday.
