Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws made it 4 straight wins with a 6-2 triumph over the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday night. Lakewood had it all on Thursday with some great pitching, timely hitting, and some highlight reel defense as well. The win improves Lakewood to 4-1 on their current 8 game home stand.

Newcomer Drew Hillman put on a show in his BlueClaws debut going 2-3 with a double, a HR, and 3 RBI. The Phillies 18th round pick in June, Hillman just joined the BlueClaws earlier in the day Thursday, and the HR was his 1st as a professional. Carlos Alonso also drove in 2 runs and finished the game 2-4.

Jesse Biddle got the start for Lakewood, and he was very strong picking up his 6th win of the year. Biddle allowed 2 runs/1 earned over 5 innings of work while striking out 6. The bullpen was fantastic yet again for Lakewood as well. Lendy Castillo threw 2.2 scoreless innings, then Jay Johnson retired all 4 batters he faced en route to his 4th save of the season.

The BlueClaws find themselves right in the thick of the things in the SAL Northern Division thanks to their hot play as of late, and they will try to make it 5 straight on Friday. LHP Austin Wright (1-1, 2.12 ERA) will start for Lakewood, and RHP Robert Morey (7-7, 5.29 ERA) gets the ball for Greensboro. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
