LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws won their 2nd consecutive ballgame following an 8 game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Hagerstown Suns on Sunday. It was a back and forth ballgame that a tie score 3 separate times. Lakewood had 3 different leads in the ballgame, but took the lead for good on Domingo Santana's RBI double in the bottom of the 8th inning.

David Buchanan won his South Atlantic League leading 8th game with yet another stellar pitching performance for the BlueClaws. Buchanan (8-3) threw 8 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and striking out 6. He threw 97 pitches in all, and did a nice job keeping the game close all the way for Lakewood. Juan Sosa came in and pitched the 9th inning to close it out and collect his 6th save of the season. Hagerstown got the tying run to 2nd following a single and balk on Sosa to begin the 9th, but he got no close as Sosa got a pop up to himself, a strike out looking, and ground ball to 2B to end the game.

Offensively, Lakewood was led by the bottom half of the order as Michael Dabbs, Domingo Santana, and Cameron Rupp all had 2 hits. Santana was the player of the game with a 2-3 performance including 2 doubles, 2 runs, and the game winning RBI to score Dabbs in the 8th. Edgar Duran, Travis Mattair, and Jim Murphy each contribute with 1-4 performances as well.

The same 2 teams will be back at it on Monday night for game 2 of their 4 game series. LHP Ervis Manzanillo (3-3, 5.43 ERA) will start for Lakewood and RHP Taylor Jordan (6-2, 2.62 ERA) will do the same for Hagerstown. 7:05 pm First Pitch on Monday.
