NORWICH, CT --- Ryan Howell had a two-out RBI double in the top of the fifth inning to score Skye Bolt with the only run of the game, while Corey Miller and Ryan Gorton combined on a six-hit shutout as the Vermont Lake Monsters snapped a five-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over the Connecticut Tigers in game one of a New York-Penn League doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Dodd Stadium.

The victory was the sixth shutout of the season for Lake Monsters pitchers, including the fourth 1-0 win overall and third 1-0 win against the Tigers.
