Lake Erie held to one hit in a 1-0 loss

AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers were limited to just one hit on Sunday afternoon at Mercy Health Stadium, as they fell to the Washington Wild Things, 1-0.
The Crushers (1-2) were shutout for the first time this season, while the Wild Things (1-3) scored their first win of the season.
Despite being one-hit, the Crushers had a decent amount of traffic on the bases. They were issued two walks in the first inning but couldn't cash in. Shawon Dunston Jr. provided Lake Erie's only hit, a one out single in the third, and stole second base where he was later left stranded.
The Crushers stranded eight base runners in the contest, including five in scoring position.
The lone run of the contest was scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning. Bralin Jackson reached on Trevor Achenbach's errant throw. He made his way to third on a Grant Heyman single, before scoring on a wild pitch.
The pitching was superb on both sides. Lake Erie's Sean Johnson (0-1) took the hard luck loss. He allowed just a run on four hits while fanning six over six strong innings. Matt Mullenbach tossed two scoreless innings of relief while Aaron Glickstein worked a perfect ninth.
Washington's Keven Pimentel (1-0) took the victory, throwing six scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters while allowing just the one hit. Washington's trio of BJ Sabol, Jesus Balaguer and Zach Strecker (1) each tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
The Crushers and Wild Things will bring their three-game series to a close on Monday afternoon. Lefty Paul Hall Jr. will make his first start of the season for the Crushers and the Wild Things will counter with left-hander Ryan Hennen. The first pitch at Mercy Health Stadium is scheduled for 2:05 PM.
