Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) defeated Real Salt Lake 3-1 on Sunday night to earn its first road victory of the 2020 regular season. LAFC has now beaten RSL in five of their six regular season meetings, including three victories at Rio Tinto Stadium.
LAFC's top two goalscorers found the back of the net in the first 45 minutes, with Bradley Wright-Phillips tapping in his eighth of the season in the 22nd minute of play, before forward Diego Rossi notched his league-leading 12th of the year just five minutes later.
Forward Brian Rodriguez added the third of the night, and his second of the year, just before the hour mark with a chip over goalkeeper Andrew Putna. The home side would get one back in the 64th minute as Marcelo Silva's header was initially saved by Pablo Sisniega, but the rebound would bounce off Eduard Atuesta and into the back of the net.
With the win, LAFC moves up to 5th place in the Western Conference with 21 points (6-6-3 record). The Black & Gold now travel to Colorado to take on the Rapids for the first time in 2020 on Wednesday, October 7. Kickoff at Dick's Sporting Goods Parks is slated for 6:00 p.m. PT on YouTube TV, Estrella TV, ESPN LA 710, and KFWB 980 AM.
