
LAFC Defeats Real Salt Lake 4-1

LAFC defeated Real Salt Lake 4-1 on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium to win its fifth straight MLS game. The victory is also LAFC's third consecutive road win over Western Conference opponents, and keeps the Black & Gold atop the MLS standings with a 16-4-3 record and 51 points.
LAFC jumped out to an early lead just nine minutes into the match on a goal by Cristian Arango, his 10th of the season. Real Salt Lake answered back three minutes later when Sergio Córdova scored to even the game at 1-1. LAFC regained the lead five minutes later on a left-footed strike by Kellyn Acosta. Arango added to his team-leading goal tally when he scored his 11th goal of the season in the 60th minute, and Gareth Bale put the game away with his second MLS goal in the 87th minute to give LAFC a 4-1 advantage.
LAFC returns home to Banc of California Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 13 as LAFC hosts Charlotte FC in the clubs' first ever meeting. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast KCOP 13, Estrella TV (ESP) and ESPN+ and on radio on 710 AM ESPN, ESPN LA app and 980 AM La Mera Mera (ESP).

LAFC remains undefeated this season with a perfect 12-0-0 record when scoring first.
LAFC is currently on a five-game MLS winning streak. It is just the second time in LAFC history that the Black & Gold have won five straight games. The last time LAFC won five games in a row was July 26, 2019- Aug. 21, 2019.
Saturday night's win marks LAFC's fifth straight MLS win and third consecutive road victory, with all three road wins coming against Western Conference opponents.
Cristian Arango scored two goals and he continues to lead the club with 11 regular season goals.
With Arango's second goal, LAFC has now scored 300 MLS Regular Season Goals since joining the league in 2018.
Gareth Bale made his fourth appearance for LAFC entering the match in the 64th minute and scored his second MLS goal in the 87th minute.
