Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will look to stay above the playoff line as the team travels for a second-straight road game to face Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, the match will be televised on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
Chicago (8-10-6, 30 points) is coming off a second-consecutive road victory after coming from behind to defeat expansion side Charlotte FC 3-2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Despite falling behind in the first minute, the Fire responded with two goals in three minutes midway through the second half. Kacper Przybyłko provided the leveler in the 21st minute before defensive midfielder Federico Navarro added a second finish in the 24th minute. Charlotte would tie the game just before halftime, but another goal from Przybyłko in the 51st minute secured all three points for Chicago. The win propelled the team above the playoff line and stretched the team's unbeaten run to five matches.
Philadelphia (12-3-9, 45 points) will be looking to rebound from a 3-1 road loss to FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium on Saturday night. A 77th minute goal from Paxten Aaronson was not enough to overcome three second-half goals from Cincinnati's Brandon Vázquez, Brenner Sousa da Silva and Álvaro Barreal.
It will be the second encounter of the season for the two clubs, after the Fire defeated Philadelphia 1-0 at Soldier Field on June 29 with a goal from Argentine midfielder Federico Navarro. The last trip to Subaru Park for the Fire resulted in a 1-1 tie on Aug. 1, 2021, with Przemysław Frankowski scoring the lone Fire goal in the 10th minute before the team went down to 10 men in the 34th minute.
