
LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Adam Saldana

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed midfielder Adam Saldaña from LA Galaxy II. The 18-year-old LA Galaxy Academy product featured in the USL Championship last year for LA Galaxy II, making 16 starts across the regular season.
"Adam is a player who has developed significantly with the LA Galaxy Academy and LA Galaxy II, and we are excited that he has signed a Major League Soccer contract with the first team," said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. "He has proven to be a talented player who is committed to growing as a professional. We look forward to his growth in the first-team environment."
Saldaña made 16 appearances - all starts - for LA Galaxy II last season across various midfield positions, helping lead them to a second-place finish in Group B to clinch a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season. He originally signed a professional contract with LA Galaxy II in 2019 following several standout seasons with the LA Galaxy Academy. In all, Saldaña has made 26 appearances for Los Dos.
During his time with the Academy, he helped led the team to the 2018-19 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs. Saldaña also took part in the 2019 Generation adidas Cup with the LA Galaxy Academy U-17 squad, where the team reached the quarterfinals.
In addition to his time with the LA Galaxy, Saldaña has garnered international attention, featuring regularly for the U-17 squad. Most recently, he made three appearances in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In all, he has made 26 appearances for the U.S. U-17 squad across various competitions.
Across the LA Galaxy first-team, the Galaxy now have 12 players that have come through the club's developmental system: Adam Saldaña and Efrain Alvarez, Julian Araujo, Nick DePuy, Cameron Dunbar, Kai Koreniuk, Eric Lopez, Jonathan Perez, Daniel Steres, Diedie Traore, Justin Vom Steeg and Ethan Zubak.
