Notes:
- In their 15th game of the season, the LA Galaxy defeated Sporting KC 2-0 on the road in their first victory over Sporting since April 18, 2015.
- It was the Galaxy's first win in Kansas City since 2007.
- With the win, the Galaxy sit in second place overall with 28 points (9-5-1) through 15 matches on the season.
- LA Galaxy midfielder Favio Alvarez tallied his first goal with the club in his third career appearance for the LA Galaxy.
- On his first game back after completing a two-game suspension, LA Galaxy captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic recorded a goal and an assist, giving him 10 goals and three assists this season. He has now recorded 32 goals and 13 assists for the Galaxy in 38 career appearances.
- On his second game after returning from injury, Perry Kitchen made his first start of the year and recorded two assists in his second appearance of the season.
- Tonight's shutout marks the fifth for the LA Galaxy this season and the second time the team has recorded back-to-back shutouts this year after securing a 1-0 win at Orlando on Friday, May 24.
The Galaxy are now 25-23-15 against Sporting KC all-time, and 9-16-8 on the road.
This year on the road, the Galaxy are 3-3-1 with eight goals scored and eight goals conceded.
The Galaxy are 8-0-0 this season when scoring the game's opening goal, and 1-5-0 when conceding first.
When leading at halftime, LA are 5-0-0. They are 4-2-0 when tied at halftime.
