La Crosse Loggers News Release
The Loggers advanced their winning streak to eight games this afternoon, moving within 1.5 games of first place in the Great Plains West Division.
Connor Harrison (Hawaii) went the distance for La Crosse, recording the team's first complete game performance of the summer. Following a scoreless 6.0 inning shutout for his last outing, Harrison was able to continue his success due to excellent command. The southpaw did not walk a batter, throwing strikes at a 70% clip.
Despite being shutout, the Buck's offense conjured up 11 hits, but were unable to produce enough runs. Leading the way for the home nine was Jake Wilhoit (Davidson), who went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Aaron Ujimori (Hawaii) and Tai Walton (Hawaii), both familiar with the Logger's ace, each notched 2 hit outings.
Six pitchers threw for Waterloo, allowing 13 walks collectively, a statistic that was deemed costly at the end of regulation. Cameron Hagan (Hawaii), another Rainbow Warrior, started and only tossed a scoreless inning. Anthony Pron (Stevens Institute of Technology) was handed his second loss, going 3.0 innings and surrendering 3 runs.
The Lumberman offense continues to produce, averaging 10 runs over their last ten games. Today, Jack Haley (Cal State Fullerton) continued to shine. He went 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Through 14 games, the shortstop is hitting a robust .400 average with a .476 OBP. Landon Wallace (Nevada) also posted multiple hits, going 2-6 on the night. Carson Hornung (South Carolina and Luke Leto (LSU) chipped in as well, each collecting a hit and scoring 3 runs.
The Loggers will attempt to extend their winning streak to nine games as they battle the Bucks in Waterloo once more tomorrow night. The first pitch is set for 6:35pm CT at Riverfront Stadium.
