Seven Straight Losses for Spitters

Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters extend their franchise record seven-game losing streak with a 4-3 loss to the Green Bay Rockers on Sunday.

Green Bay took the early lead in the third, but Traverse City answered in the bottom. Jake Smallwood singled and Camden Traficante hit a sacrifice fly to go up 2-1.

In the sixth, the Rockers tied it up, but once again the Pit Spitters answered. Loading the bases with nobody out, Dallas Duarte hit a sacrifice fly to score Traficante. However, the Pit Spitters would leave runners on and leave the inning up just one run.

Jake Buxton entered to close the ninth, but after allowing two to reach scoring position, manager Josh Rebandt went to his bullpen again. Coby Greiner came in after his spectacular performance on Friday in Wausau but couldn't replicate those results. Green Bay tied the game on a sacrifice fly and took the lead on a two-out double. The Pit Spitters went down in order in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.

The Pit Spitters continue to extend their franchise worst losing streak. The previous high was five losses set earlier this season. Before this year, the most losses in a row were four, done twice in 2021 and once in 2019.
