Duluth, Minn. - The Duluth Huskies baseball team won its first game of an eight-game road trip, defeating the Rochester Honkers, 5-2, at Mayo Field on Sunday.

Leading off the fourth inning, shortstop Devin Hurdle (Omaha) hit his first home run of the season and Duluth's third. First baseman Ambren Voitik (Austin Peay) scored on a fielding error, lifting the Huskies (11-9) ahead, 4-1.

Both Duluth and Rochester posted one run in the fifth. Catcher Eduardo Rosario (Omaha) produced a one-out RBI base hit and right fielder Nico Regino answered with an RBI hit.

In his second start versus Rochester (7-12) this season, right-hander Jake Hamilton (Oklahoma Baptist) allowed two earned runs on seven hits. Hamilton worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth, with right-handed relievers Caleb Gallant (Northwestern Florida State) and Nolan Lebamoff (Valparaiso) combining for three innings of relief.

Earning his first save of the season, right-hander Michael Sarhatt (Skyline College) retired the ninth in order.

Second baseman Jonathan Vastine (Vanderbilt) posted four hits in his first game with the Huskies. Duluth left only three runners stranded, emerging victors on seven hits.

Hamilton (2-0) was awarded the win, while Honkers left-handed starter Brant Alazaus (1-1) charged with the loss.

With their first win in six games, the Huskies return to Rochester for the second game of their two-game set against the Honkers on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
