L.V. 51s Return Home to Host Tacoma and Portland

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will open an eight-game homestand on Monday, July 19 against the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. The four-game series will run from Monday-Thursday, July 19-22. Las Vegas will then host the Portland Beavers, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in a four-game series from Friday-Monday, July 23-26. All eight games will begin at 7:05 p.m.

The 51s, under manager Dan Rohn, are currently in third place in the Pacific Southern Division, 44-49 (.473), 10.0 games behind the first-place (Southern Division) Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Las Vegas' brief four-game road trip in Northern California against the Grizzlies will conclude at Chukchansi Park on Sunday evening.

Las Vegas is averaging 4,938 fans (227,158) through 46 home dates in the 2010 season. The season-high crowd was 10,459 vs. Omaha on May 18. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance in all 27 seasons (1983-2009) and the all-time total now stands at 9,251,636.

The series opener on Monday will feature "Value Menu" as the 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

Terry Fator Bobblehead Night, presented by The Mirage Resort and Casino, will be featured on Tuesday. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a bobblehead. The finale of the series against the Rainiers on Thursday will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

Tacoma features three of the top 10 prospects in the Mariners organization, according to Baseball America: catcher Adam Moore (No. 3), right-handed pitcher Michael Pineda (No. 6) and outfielder Greg Halman (No. 8).

51s T-Shirt Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, will be featured in the series opener against Portland on Friday, July 23.

51s Wall Clock Night is one of the most popular items on this season's promotions list. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a wall clock in game two of the four-game series on Saturday, July 24.

The finale of the homestand on Monday, July 26 will feature another "Value Menu" night at the ballpark.

Portland features one of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: left-handed pitcher Aaron Poreda (No. 10). Terry Kennedy, who was the manager of the 2004 51s, is in his first season as skipper of Portland.

Las Vegan Sean Kazmar, one of the top fielding shortstops in the PCL, is in his second season with the Beavers. He is a graduate of Las Vegas High School and played two years at the Community College of Southern Nevada (CSN) under head coach Tim Chambers. He helped lead CSN to the 2003 National Junior College World Series championship. Kazmar was selected by San Diego in the fifth round of June 2004 First-Year Player draft and made his Major League debut with the Padres on August 13, 2008 and appeared in a total of 19 games. He recorded his first Major League hit against Milwaukee in his first at-bat against left-hander C.C. Sabathia.

The 51s broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the five-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 11th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

Following the eight-game homestand, the 51s will embark on an eight-game road trip beginning in Northern Nevada against the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The four-game series at Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno will run from Tuesday-Friday, July 27-30. Las Vegas will then continue the road swing to Northern California against division rival the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. The four-game series will run from Saturday-Wednesday, July 31 - August 3.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug, Ritmo Latino and the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $9.00 (general admission), $10.00 (reserved), $12.00 (plaza) and $14.00 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows that took place on July 2 and 3.
