TONIGHT: The RedHawks and Iowa meet for Game 3 of a 4-game series at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark and the third of 9 straight head-to-head between these clubs. Iowa leveled the series 1-1 with a 4-0 win last night behind Jeff Samardzija's 5-inning start. Hung-Wen Chen and David Cales completed the 4-hit shutout. Rich Harden went 3.2 innings (67 pitches) in taking the loss, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The RedHawks lead the American South Division by 4.5 games over Albuquerque. Iowa is atop the American North by a half-game over Omaha. Guillermo Moscoso gets the OKC start against righthander Jay Jackson.

SHUTOUTS: Iowa's 4-0 win last night marked the seventh time OKC has been shut out this season. The previous came on June 29 in a 5-0 defeat against Omaha.

HOMER STREAK BROKEN: The RedHawks had a 9-game home run streak snapped last night in collecting 4 singles. OKC had totaled 15 homers during the 9-game streak. The RedHawks are 39-18 when homering in a game and 11-22 when held without one.

MOVING IT ALONG: Last night's game time was 2 hours, 35 minutes. Including last night, seven of the last 10 OKC games have taken 3:07 or longer, including 3 extra-inning games: July 15, (3:49, 10 innings); July 7, Game 2, (4:15, 13 innings); and July 8 (4:38, 12 innings).

MATHIS KEEPS IT DOWN: Doug Mathis followed Rich Harden's rehab appearance last night and retired 10 of 11 batters, allowing just an infield hit by Marquez Smith. Seven of Mathis' 10 outs came on ground balls.

HEAD STARTS: The RedHawks have allowed the first run in 7 of the last 8 games, but have gone 6-2 in that span. In 4 of those 8 games the opposition has scored a single run in the first inning and in 7 of the last 8 the first opposition run has scored in the first 3 innings. OKC is 26-12 when scoring first and 24-28 when allowing the first run.

NOTABLE NUMBERS: The RedHawks lead the PCL in team ERA at 3.63. OKC has allowed the fewest home runs in either Triple-A League (50), and remains the only team in the PCL or IL to have not allowed a 3-homer game. Each of the other PCL teams has allowed at least a 4-homer game. The RedHawks have allowed the PCL's second-fewest runs (378, behind Iowa's 377) and the fewest earned runs (323), while owning the best run differential in the league at +96.

ERROR UPDATE: The RedHawks have committed 30 errors in the past 25 games, but have gone 3 games without allowing an unearned run. The RedHawks' last set of consecutive errorless games was a doubleheader sweep of New Orleans on June 16. When making an error, OKC is 25-30. When errorless, the RedHawks are 25-10.

GENTRY'S STREAK ENDS: Craig Gentry had a 6-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-4 last night. His streak matched his best of the season. During the streak, Gentry went 14-for-32 (.438) with 2 homers and 5 RBIs.

MORELAND'S LONG STREAK ENDS: Right fielder Mitch Moreland had a 6-game hitting streak and 25-game on-base streak end last night. During the hitting streak, Moreland went 11-for-27 (.407) with 2 homers and 5 RBIs. During the on-base streak, he hit .351 (33-for-94) with 5 homers and 18 RBIs.

ODDS AND ENDS: Brandon Boggs is tied for fourth in the league with 52 walks...hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh is missing this series while on his Ranger-mandated 4-game vacation...Coolbaugh will re-join the team when the scene shifts to Iowa on Monday...strength coach Ric Mabie is also taking his vacation this series...these teams will play a doubleheader on Tuesday at Principal Park starting at 5:05 pm CDT to make up for a May 10 rainout...that broadcast will air on News Radio 1000 KTOK starting at 4:45 pm.
