L-Kings Fall To Peoria

August 9, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release

Monday Recap

Peoria 10 @ Clinton 5

Hard to believe, but virtually the same lineup that was made to look so utterly hopeless against Clinton pitchers Kea Kometani and Johnny Lujan on Sunday turned it around and destroyed Kyle Rogers and Josh Giles on Monday.

Rogers (5-9; 6.53) allowed seven runs on eight hits including two long balls in 5.2 innings before turning it over to Kevin Altman (6.26), who delivered his best outing in over a month, holding Peoria scoreless on two hits and no walks, fanning three in 2.1 innings of work. Josh Giles surrendered three more runs in one inning.

Tug Hulett (.268 / .404 / .352) and Casey Benjamin (.271 / .401 / .379) led the way for the Clinton offense from the top of the order with Hulett going 3-5 with a double and Benjamin coming up a homer short of the cycle, adding a walk and a stolen base.

Emerson Frostad (.276 / .364 / .469 overall; .323 in August) continues to be the L-Kings' hottest hitter after going 2-4 with a walk, driving in 52nd run of the year.
