
Devil Rays allow four home runs in loss

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. -- The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays offense could not overcome four Fort Wayne Wizards home runs in a 9-3 loss Tuesday night at C.O. Brown Stadium.
The loss marked a 5-3 homestand for the Devil Rays (25-21, 58-57) as they now head to the road for eight games in Iowa. Brandon Mann lost his 10th game of the season with five runs, seven hits in four innings pitched.
The Devil Rays held a 2-0 lead after two innings after Fernando Frias had an RBI double and Heath Anderson scored on an error by the Wizards centerfielder. With a 3-2 lead in the fourth, Mann allowed back to back home runs by Yordany Ramirez and Josh Alley for a 5-3 Wizards lead that they never relinquished.
Fort Wayne hit two more homers in the ninth off Willy Corporan who joined the team on August 3. Travis Schlichting had an RBI single for the Devil Rays final tally.
Southwest Michigan returns home on Friday, August 19 for the team's final Friday fireworks show and Mascot Olympics during the game. The Rays head to Burlington starting on August 11 for four games before four in Cedar Rapids end the roadtrip.
