The LumberKings stranded 14 base runners, but eeked out a 4-3 victory nonetheless as Kea Kometani, Johnny Lujan and newcomer Zach Phillips provided outstanding pitching.

Kometani (2.40 ERA) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk, fanning six through the first five and Phillips, making his MWL debut after an excellent season in the Arizona Rookie League, followed with three solid frames, surrendering one run on four hits and no walks, fanning four. Lujan (4-4; 2.81) earned the victory with two scoreless innings, yielding two hits and a walk.

Emerson Frostad went 3-5 to drive in a run while both Matt Smith and Brandon Cashman went 2-5 with a double and an RBI. Catcher Alberto Martinez went 2-3 with a pair of walks, scoring once.
