Clinton, IA - The Kansas City Royals have promoted Burlington Bees RHP Chad Blackwell to the High Desert Mavericks, the organization's High-A affiliate in the California League. Blackwell leads the Bees with 47 appearances and is 7-4 with a 2.33 ERA. Blackwell also leads the team with 14 saves, which ranks him tenth on the franchise's single season list. It is the most saves for a pitcher in the five years that the Bees have been a Royals affiliate. Without Blackwell, the Bees will play the final three regular season games with 22 active players.
