
Kydd Tallies in OT to Lift Hitmen in Finale

Red Deer, AB - Adam Kydd scored at 4:21 of overtime to propel the Calgary Hitmen past the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 on Tuesday night at Westerner Park Centrium.
It was some late heroics for Calgary that set the stage for victory as captain Josh Prokop slide home the tying goal with 46.5 seconds remaining in regulation.
Sean Tschigerl and Riley Stotts also found the back of the net for the Hitmen while Stotts added a pair of assists to reach the 200 point plateau in the Western Hockey League. For Tschigerl, the tally extended his career-high point scoring streak to 12 games.
The Rebels were led by Ben King who notched a pair of goals while Mason Ward added a single.
It was the final game of the 2021 season for both teams who combined for 85 shots on goal. Calgary recorded 50 while Red Deer posted 35. Goaltender Brayden Peters picked up the win making 32 saves.
The Hitmen finished their schedule with a record of 10-8-3-0 while Red Deer went 4-15-4-0.
There are no playoffs in the WHL this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions. The Memorial Cup has also been cancelled.
