Kubitza, Rohm Lead M-Braves to Victory

PEARL, MS -- Kyle Kubitza and David Rohm put up three-hit nights to lead the Mississippi Braves to a 4-1 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits Thursday at Trustmark Park. With the win, the M-Braves claim the series victory over Montgomery.

Mississippi (32-21, 71-51) scored four runs on 10 hits while Montgomery (22-31, 57-66) plated one run on eight hits. Kubitza finished the game a triple shy of the cycle. He drove in a run and scored two. Hunter also added two hits.

The M-Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Kubitza blasted a solo homer to center field. It was Kubitza's sixth long ball of the season.

Daniel Castro singled to start the second. Rohm followed with a base hit to right field. Kyle Wren walked to load the bases before Gustavo Nunez delivered a two-run single, extending the Braves lead to 3-0.

In the top of fifth, Montgomery cut the M-Braves lead to 3-1 when Ryan Brett doubled and scored on a Jake Hager base hit to center field.

Mississippi responded in the bottom of the frame. Kubitza doubled and took third on an error. Mycal Jones later delivered a sacrifice fly to center, plating Kubitza and extending the M-Braves lead to 4-1.

Williams Perez (5-6) tossed six innings for the M-Braves, limiting the Biscuits to one earned run on eight hits and a walk. He struck out four batters and picked up the win. Jorge Reyes worked two innings in relief, fanning two. Ryan Kelly (S, 5) came on to record the final three outs and notch the save.

Albert Suarez (3-4) gave up four earned runs on eight hits and a homer. He walked two and struck out two in five innings of work.

In game four of this five-game series, M-Braves right-hander Ryan Weber (5-5, 4.63) counters Biscuits lefty Grayson Garvin (0-7, 4.00). First pitch is slated for 7:00 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
