
Generals Sweep Barons in Twin Bill

Birmingham, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons suffered a double-header sweep Wednesday against the Jackson Generals falling by a score of 2-1 in game one and 8-1 in game two in front of 786 fans at Generals Park.
In game one, the Barons and Generals battled through a 1-1 tie into the seventh inning where D.J. Patterson's bases loaded single gave the Generals a walk-off 2-1 win. Mike Recchia (5-4, 3.32) allowed both runs in a complete game effort surrendering eight hit and striking out two over 6.1 IP.
Generals' starter Tyler Olson (7-7, 3.80) allowed just one run on six hits and struck out four in a complete game victory.
Trayce Thompson and Michael Earley paced the Barons offense in the game as each finished with two hits while Jason Coats' sacrifice fly in the second inning gave them a brief 1-0 lead.
In game two, starter David Cales (2-1, 4.53) held the Generals scoreless through three innings before running into trouble in the fourth. Peterson struck again for Jackson giving the Generals a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer and Jordy Lara followed with a sacrifice fly later in the inning giving the Generals a 3-0.
The lead would grow to 8-0 in the sixth as Braulio Ortiz loaded the bases and walked in three consecutive runs on walks to Brock Hebert, Tyler Smith and Danio Pizzano.
Rangel Ravelo and Jeremy Farrell finished with two hits apiece in the game as the Barons fell to 52-70 on the season and 23-29overall while Jackson improved to 56-65 on the year and 25-27 in the secondhalf.
The Barons will look to snap their four-game losing skid tomorrow night as RHP Bryan Blough (2-4, 3.83) takes the hill against RHP Stephen Landazuri (6-4, 3.45). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
