Kroon Clips Black Bears Late

Matt Kroon's two-run single in the top of the 9th snapped a long RBI drought, and gave the Cutters the lead for good in their 5-4 win over West Virginia.

Kroon finished the night 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored, picking up his first RBI since July 6th. Danny Mayer recorded his 5th, 3-hit game of the season, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Rafael Marchan and Ben Pelletier each recorded two hits, with Pelletier picking up his team-leading 30th RBI.

Juan Escorcia pitched well, allowing one run, unearned, over 5.2 innings of work, walking two and striking out six. Jose Jimenez earned the win, working .1 of an inning, but getting a huge out in the bottom of the 8th inning. Keylan Killgore retired all three batters he faced, striking out two to earn his 9th save. Killgore is tied for the league lead in saves.

Williamsport finished the night 5 for 6 with runners in scoring position. The Cutters go for the regular season series win against the Black Bears tomorrow, having won six of the first 11 match ups.
