Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia plays game two of a seven-game, six-day road trip with a doubleheader at Falcon Park in Auburn. Batavia has had trouble with the Doubledays this season, going 2-8 against them this season. After the four games in three days in Auburn, the Muckdogs head to West Virginia for a three-game set.
That was last night- Batavia split the doubleheader yesterday against Auburn. The Muckdogs game one 4-1 on the four-run sixth inning. Sean Reynolds started the rally with a two run shot. Game two went to extras, with the Doubledays making two comebacks to win 4-3.
Stars Shining in Batavia- The Muckdogs sent three players to the 2018 NYPL All-Star Game at State College. Jerar Encarnacion, Sean Reynolds and Manuel Rodriguez represented the Muckdogs. Batavia's coaching staff was responsible for managing the North roster.
Rodriguez Rocks The 'Pen- LHP Manuel Rodriguez has been lights out for Batavia this season from the bullpen. He has not given up an earned run this season since June 19th. That stretch has lasted 30.2 innings for Rodriguez. Six of his last seven outings have seen him also strike out at least four batters, including a season-high seven his last time out.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .267 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 270 runs against, 109 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 23 of his last 30 games. He's tallied 34 hits, four home runs and has crossed the plate 12 times in that span. He is tied for second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 58 games this season, 36 of which have been decided by two runs or less. Batvia has played the most one-run games of any team this season, and the Muckdogs are 17-19 in games decided by two or less. Batavia has the third-best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-8.
Recent Roster Action- On August 16th, OF Jerar Encarnacion was promoted to Greensboro, and OF Davis Bradshaw was promoted to Batavia from the GCL Marlins.
Marlins Update- The Marlins dropped to the Doubledays' parent club, the Washington Nationals 8-2 last night. Max Scherzer pitched six scoreless to pick up his 16th win on the season. Austin Dean had the only Marlins run on a solo homer.
