Komets shutout K-Wings
November 12, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO - For just the ninth time in their 370-game ECHL history the Kalamazoo Wings were held scoreless. In front of an enthusiastic crowd of 5,106, filled primary with over 4,300 school-aged children, the K-Wings lost 4-0 to the Fort Wayne Komets on Education Day presented by United Healthcare.
Answering the school bell, the Komets struck for two early goals. Sneaking into the slot Mathew Pistilli (5th) redirected a Paul Crowder centering pass 2:55 into the contest to put the Komets in front. Just 18 seconds later Fort Wayne struck again with a goal from Shawn Szylowski (5th).
After no scoring in the second period, the Komets put the game out of reach with a pair of goals midway in the final period. Finding room at the right circle Christian Ouellet (1st) lifted a wrister over Joel Martin. Eric Faille concluded the scoring just over two minutes later by registering his fourth goal on the season on a wraparound.
The K-Wings will remain at home on Friday, November 14th for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Reading Royals on Zoetis Night. Every fan that comes to the game will receive a K-Wings Koozie courtesy of Zoetis. Friday's game will be a 3, 2, 1 Countdown to Fun featuring $3 beers, $2 Pepsi products and $1 hot dogs courtesy of Winter's Sausage.
