KOMET REVIEW KOMETS HEAD FOR MICHIGAN THIS WEEK Week 18 nets 4 points

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets took 4 points for week 18 of the 2005-06 campaign and continue to hold 2nd place in the Western Division, 2 points ahead of 3rd-place Quad City. The Komets were 2-1-0 for the week and improved to 27-18-4 with 8 weeks remaining in regular season play.

The past week started with a 4-2 win at Rockford Wednesday night to extend the Komet's unbeaten streak to 8 games. Friday the Quad City Mallards stopped the Komets at home 2-1. Saturday the Komets turned back the visiting Flint Generals 6-2.

Komets to skate 4 in Michigan Flint double-header.....The Komets will skate 4 games in Michigan this week starting with a 7pm tilt at Flint Wednesday night. Friday the Komets return to Flint to face the Generals at 7:30pm at Perani's Arena and Event Center, formerly the IMA arena. The Komets are 1-1-0 vs. Flint in the season series after last Saturday night's 6-2 home win against the Generals. The Generals defeated the visiting Muskegon Fury 4-3 in a shootout Sunday in their last outing. The Generals are 3-3-0 in their last 6 games and 3-7-0 in their last 10.

Komets visit defending champion Fury in Muskegon Saturday.....The Komets will skate at Muskegon Saturday night at 7:30pm. The defending Colonial Cup Champions have lost 3 out of the last 4 in shootouts. Muskegon is 1-3-3 in their last 7 games following a 13-0-2 stretch. The Fury continues to lead the Kalamazoo Wings by 2 points in the Central Division with a 35-8-7 record after 50 games and going into this week's play. The Komets are 0-4-0 against Muskegon this year. Saturday's game at L.C. Walker Arena will be the 3rd and final game at Muskegon this season with 1 meeting remaining in Fort Wayne April 14. The Fury, coming off a 4-3 shootout loss at Flint Sunday, will skate at Motor City Friday before hosting the Komets Saturday.

First trip to Fraser Sunday.....After Saturday night's game at Muskegon, the Komets move on down the road to Fraser, Michigan to face the Motor City Mechanics at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena. It will be the first of 3 meetings this season at Motor City. In 3 previous meetings this year at Fort Wayne the Komets are 3-0-0. Last year the Komets were 4-2-0 against Motor City in the Mechanic's inaugural season. Motor City is 9-4-1 in their last 14 games and 4-1-0 in their last 5 after upending the Port Huron Flags 6-3 Sunday at home in their last game played. The Mechanic's last loss was to the Komets Feb. 12 at Fort Wayne 7-3.

Komets on the air and web.....Wednesday's Komet game at Flint will not be carried on Fort Wayne radio due to conflicting programming. There is also no Flint radio or webcast. Friday's game at Flint will be aired on WOWO Radio AM 1190. Saturday's Komet game at Muskegon will be carried on WOWO Radio AM 1190. Sunday's game at Motor City will be broadcast on ESPN Radio AM 1380. All Komet games broadcast on Fort Wayne radio can also be heard worldwide on the internet at www.komets.com at Comcast KometCast. Komet gamecasts begin 15 minutes prior to faceoff with the Sprint P.C.S. pregame show featuring Bob Chase in his 53rd season behind the Komet microphone.

River Otters game washed out.....The Komet game that was to be played last Sunday, Feb. 19 at Missouri has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 12. The game had to be rescheduled due to a water main break at the Family Arena in St. Charles, the home of the Missouri River Otters.

Komet streaks.....P.C. Drouin (LW) is on a 9-game point streak and league-leading 9-game assist streak (3g, 10a).....David Hukalo (RW) is riding a 5-game point streak (4g, 4a) and 4-game goal scoring streak (4g).

Special K's.....The Komet's specialty teams last week scored on 3 of 16 power plays (18.8%) and were successful on 22 of 26 penalty kills (84.6%). Over the last 10 games, the Komets are 15/53 on the power play for a 28.3% success rate. During the same period, the Komets have faced 76 opponent power plays and have had an 86.8% penalty kill success rate (66/76).

The hottest ticket in town.....The 2 home Komet games this past weekend attracted a total attendance of 16,283 to boost the Fort Wayne season attendance average after 26 home games to 7,539, up from 7,253 last season after 26 home games.
