DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL), wrapped up a strong week with a 3-0-1 record with wins over Adirondack and Elmira (twice) and a shootout loss to Roanoke. Currently the Trashers are unbeaten in their last five games with a 3-0-2 record.
This weekend Danbury will host the Adirondack Frostbite at the Danbury Ice Arena this Saturday at 7:30pm following Friday's showdown in Richmond. Saturday is "Salute the Troops" night and the first 1,000 fans will receive mini U.S. Flags courtesy of Homeland Aid & Assistance. Danbury will also be sporting camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off prior to and during the game.

GOUPIL'S GAME-WINNER LIFTS DANBURY TO 5-4 WIN OVER ELMIRA

DANBURY CT--Alex Goupil's goal with 4:35 left in regulation gave the Trashers their second lead of the period as they held off the Elmira Jackals 5-4 before 2,525 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night.
For the second straight game against the Jackals, Elmira built a 2-0 lead as Todd Grant's 4th of the season beat Sly Daigle at the 3:52 mark of the opening period, while the first of two Sam Paolini goals were scored at the 7:28 mark of the second to give the Jackals a 2-0 advantage.
Shawn Collymore answered Paolini's goal just 48 seconds later as Mike and Drew Omicioli assisted at the 8:16 mark to cut the Jackals lead to a goal. Paolini netted his second goal on a wraparound at the 17:06 mark to help the Jackals earn a 3-1 lead.
Drew Omicioli then countered for the Trashers as he scored the first of two goals within a span of 1:05 to tie the score at 3-3 by the end of the second period. Drew's first came off a hard shot in the slot to beat Ryan McIntosh, while the second was scored at the 19:49 mark as he took a Troy Smith pass off the end boards and slipped it past an out-of-position McIntosh to tie the score at 3-3.
Danny Stewart then scored at the 2:41 mark of the third period to give Danbury a 4-3 lead, but Jarrett Konkle's power play goal at the 7:22 mark tied the score.
Danbury regained their lead when Goupil ripped a shot past McIntosh at the 15:25 mark on assists from Stewart and Sergei Durdin.
Sly Daigle earned his 23rd win as Danbury improved to 32-13-10 for the season and a 10 point lead over the Adirondack Frostbite after a 24 save effort. McIntosh saved 31 of 36 in a losing cause.
TRASHERS FAIL TO HOLD LEAD--FALL 6-5 IN SHOOTOUT TO VIPERS

ROANOKE, VA--Erick Lajoie and Matt Elich combined to score three goals in a 2:35 span as the Vipers erased a 4-2 Danbury lead in the third period, while Mike Omicioli's second goal of the night tied the score at 5-5 at the 13:22 mark. However, it wasn't enough as the Roanoke Valley Vipers topped Danbury in a shootout 6-5 on Saturday night at the Roanoke Civic Center.
David Beauregard and Mike Wiggins each scored first period goals to give the Vipers a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period.
Danbury fired back three consecutive goals in the second period as J.M. Daoust, Danny Stewart and Alex Goupil each netted one apiece to give the Trashers a 3-2 lead heading into the final period.
Mike Omicioli scored the first of two goals at the 2:20 mark, but the Vipers bounced back starting at 10:37 as Lajoie slipped a shot past Jayme Platt to cut Danbury's lead to 4-3. Lajoie scored again at the 12:42 mark as his slapshot beat Platt to tie the score. Elich scored 30 seconds later as he beat Platt in a 2-on-1 to give Roanoke a brief 5-4 lead.
Ten seconds after Elich scored, Mike Omicioli scored his second of the night to deadlock the game at 5-5.
Danbury failed to score in the shootout for the third time in four tries, while David Beauregard scored the only goal for Roanoke. Platt stopped 28 of 33 in regulation while Trevor Cunning finished with 36 saves over 41 shots.
TRASHERS COME FROM BEHIND TO TOP ELMIRA

ELMIRA, NY--Ryan Barnes netted his 7th of the season at the 6:38 mark of the third to give Danbury a 3-2 lead as he helped lead the Trashers to a 4-2 win over Elmira at First Arena on Friday night.
No shootouts were needed to decide the game as the Trashers opened the scoring at the 13:03 mark as Danny Stewart knocked a rebound past Nick Boucher to give the Trashers a 1-0 first period lead.
The Jackals utilized the power play in the second as Sean Kotary and Chris Chaput netted goals at 10:45 and 16:55 to give Elmira a 2-1 lead. Donny Grover then scored his 7th of the season at the 19:57 mark to tie the score at 2-2 heading into the final period.
After Barnes scored his go-ahead goal, Danbury added some insurance as Drew Omicioli scored his 26th of the season at the 12:31 mark, assisted by Shawn Collymore.
Jayme Platt saved 33 of 35 shots for his 9th win of the season, while Dave MacIsaac finished the game with three assists for Danbury. Boucher stopped 32 of 36 in the loss.
TRASHERS COME BACK TO TOP ADIRONDACK IN SHOOTOUT

GLENS FALLS, NY--Ryan Barnes scored with 16 seconds remaining to tie the score in regulation, while Shawn Collymore and Jamie Thompson both scored in the shootout as Danbury topped Adirondack 4-3 on Tuesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Danbury took a 1-0 lead as JM Daoust netted his 20th of the season from Barnes at the 17:17 mark of the opening period. Daoust backhanded his shot past Derek Gustafson after Barnes took the puck away from PJ Byrne behind the Frostbite net. However, Greg Koehler's power play goal 1:13 later tied the score at 1-1 by the end of the first.
Collymore scored his 10th of the season to give Danbury a 2-1 lead at the 13:05 mark with assists to Daoust and Troy Smith, but this time Hugo Belanger scored at the 19:34 mark to tie the game a second time.
Adirondack gained their first lead of the game at the 14:47 mark when Sly Cloutier knocked in a pass from Mike Berry right in front of the net to give the Frostbite a 3-2 lead. Barnes' goal tied the score with 16 seconds left as he scored on a 2 on 1.
Mike Berry was the lone scorer for the Frostbite in the shootout as Sly Daigle stopped the final four Frostbite shooters to help Danbury to their 30th win this season. Daigle stopped 23 of 26 in regulation while Gustafson saved 27 of 30.
