Shootout Glory: Saturday night's shootout win against the Mallards improved the River Otters extra-session record to 4-3. Lonnie Loach scored the game-winner in the fifth round in his first shootout of the season, and Brenden Cuthbert stopped all five shooters he faced for his first shootout victory of the season.
The OC: River Otters defenseman Tin O'Connell has scored four goals in his last five games and is third among all UHL blueliners with 11 goals this season.
Reiter Snatches UHL Award: Kevin Reiter was named the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender-of-the-Week for the second time this season. The Pittsburgh-native finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.50 goals-against-average, and a .955 save percentage.
Count on Duey: River Otters forward Jim Duhart has scored points in three straight games, and has scored points in 24 of the 31 games he has played with the River Otters this season.
Dominating the Flags: With two victories versus Port Huron last week, the River Otters finished their season series against the Flags with a 5-1-0 record, outscoring the Flags 21-17.

Wednesday, February 15: Missouri 4, Port Huron 1
Tim O'Connell and Jim Duhart each scored two goals as the Missouri River Otters took down the Port Huron Flags 4-1 at the Family Arena.
The River Otters dominated the first period. Duhart opened the scored with a terrific re-direction off a great pass from Lonnie Loach. The Flags responded with a goal of their own when Brett Lutes scored on a power-play, but Duhart made it 2-1 with a laser-beam wrister with three minutes left in the first period. They weren't done yet, however, as in the final minute of the opening period O'Connell received a pass from Duhart and smoked a top-shelf slap-shot behind Port Huron goaltender Jeremy Symington. Neither team scored in the second period and the score remained 3-1 heading into the final period. O'Connell added another goal in the third period to put the Otters up 4-1. Kevin reiter made 34 saves in the victory while Jeremy Symington made 31 saves in defeat.
Friday, February 17: Missouri 3, Port Huron 2
Lonnie Loach scored two goals as the Missouri River Otters powered past the Port Huron Flags 3-2 at McMorran Arena.
The lone goal in the first period came less than a minute in as Scott Horvath took a perfect feed from Noah Whyte and flipped a shot top-shelf to put the Flags up 1-0. Neither team scored in the second period and through two periods the teams were a combined 0-for-13 on the power play, including four two-man advantages. The River Otters came out like gangbusters in the third period, getting three power play goals in the first seven minutes to take a 3-1 lead. The first came on a rocket from the slot by Loach, the second on a rebound shot by Mark Odut, and the third on another howitzer by Loach. Trevor Edwards added a late goal for the Flags, but it was too little too late as the River Otters won 3-2. Kevin Reiter earned the win while Scott Hay recorded the loss.
Saturday, February 18: Missouri 3, Quad City 2 (Shootout)
Lonnie Loach scored the shootout game-winner and Brenden Cuthbert stopped all five Mallards shooters as the Missouri River Otters defeated Quad City 3-2 at the MARK.
The Mallards struck first six minutes into the opening period when Chad Woollard rifled a deadly accurate wrister above the outstretched glove of Cuthbert. The River Otters battled back and tied the game when Jimmy Callahan took a tremendous pass from Jim Duhart and buried a shot behind Jason Tapp.Missouri took a shot-lived second period lead when Brad MacMillan skated up the right wing and fired a low shot between Tapp's pads for his third goal of the season. Quad City tied the score two minutes later when Glenn Detulleo beat Cuthbert with a top-shelf wrister. Neither team scored in the final period and the game went tied at two into the shootout. Cuthbert stoned all five Mallards shooters and Loach blasted a shot through Tapp's five-hole for the lone goal and the River Otters emerged victorious 3-2. Cuthbert made 30 saves in the victory while Tapp made 18 saves in defeat.
