Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO - Pushing the Kalamazoo Wings to brink of elimination the Fort Wayne Komets defeated the K-Wings 3-1 Wednesday night at the Wings Event Center in game three of the best-of-seven Divisional Semifinal Series. The victory gives Fort Wayne a three games to none series lead.
Keeping the trend in the series, the Komets scored the game's first goal. Matthew Pistilli (1st) took a drop-back pass from Paul Crowder and used a K-Wings defenseman as a screen to fire one past Joel Martin 4:35 into the contest.
Just one-second after successfully killing a Fort Wayne power play, the K-Wings would see their deficit grow to two. Taking a pass from C.J Severyn from behind the Kalamazoo net, Garrett Meurs (2nd) lifted the puck under the crossbar 10:15 into the first.
Giving the K-Wings life, Lane Scheidl (1st) scored the lone goal of the second period by tipping in a Dane Fox wrister from the slot for his first of the postseason.
Earning a bookend tally, Pistilli (2nd) erased the K-Wings comeback hopes by notching his second goal of the night on an empty-netter in the final minutes.
The K-Wings will remain at home at the Wings Event Center for game four of the best-of-seven Divisional Semifinal series against the Komets this Friday, April 24th with face-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
