Game Preview

It will be a pivotal game three in the best-of-seven Divisional Semifinal series between the Kalamazoo Wings and Fort Wayne Komets. The K-Wings lost game two 3-0 last Saturday and trail the series two games to none.

Saturday's shutout loss marked the third time the K-Wings were held without a goal in their ECHL playoff history and fifth time in their playoff history overall. In a 2-3-2 format, the three next possible games will be played at the Wings Events Center where the K-Wings have lost just once since February 22nd.

Garrett Meurs questionable goal proved to be the game-winner in game two, but for the second straight game the difference maker was goaltender Roman Will. Will made 35 saves to earn his first professional playoff shutout.

Defenseman Sam Ftorek is closing in on a personal milestone. Ftorek's next playoff game will be the 100th of his career.

Held Off the Board

Last Saturday's shutout marked the third time in Kalamazoo's ECHL playoff history that they were held without a goal. Overall in the team's 42-year history, the K-Wings have been shutout just five times in playoff games.

Home Sweet Home

Kalamazoo had success against Fort Wayne this season at home. During the regular season the K-Wings was 5-3-1-0 against the Komets at the Wings Event Center, which includes a mark of 5-0-0-0 since January 17th.

Snapping a Streak

The K-Wings enter tonight looking to snap a streak. Dating back to last season, Kalamazoo has lost their last four playoff games.

Sharing the Wealth

In the postseason, the Komets have scored seven goals against the K-Wings. All seven goals have been registered by different players.

Duplicating a Feat

Komets goaltender recorded his first pro playoff shutout last Saturday in a 35-save performance in a 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo. During the regular season, Will's first pro shutout also came against the K-Wings in a 34-save effort in a 3-0 victory back on March 6th at Allen County Memorial Coliseum.

Feels Like the First Time

Fort Wayne's Garrett Meurs scored the game-winner in his playoff debut on Saturday. The goal was his first professional playoff tally and it came on his lone shot of the contest.

Finishing Strong

So far in the postseason the Komets have been closing out games in the third period. Fort Wayne has outscored Kalamazoo 3-1 in third period.
