Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Tulsa Oilers on Tuesday night 3-2, to win their ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff Round 1, best of seven series, in five games 4-1.

After giving up an early second period power play goal to Tulsa's Drew Fisher, the Americans would respond with three unanswered. Dyson Stevenson tipped home his first of the post-season, from Patrik Valcak and Kevin Young at the 10:14 mark to tie the score at 1-1. Two minutes later, Ian Schultz would deflect one past Kevin Carr for his first to give Allen a 2-1 lead. The Americans would answer 90 seconds later, on the second of the post-season from Chad Costello, to make it 3-1 Allen.

The score remained that way until late in the third, when the Oilers Drew Fisher knocked one home off an Americans players stick to cut the lead to 3-2. It was his second of the game. Allen would hold on for the victory and claim their first series win in the ECHL eliminating the Tulsa Oilers in five games, 4-1.

The Americans next home games will be May 1st and 2nd, with the second round opponent to be determined. The Americans will play the winner of the Quad City vs Rapid City series, which is tied 1-1.
