The Rush will welcome old former Central Division foes in the Allen Americans, the Wichita Thunder, the Tulsa Oilers, the Missouri Mavericks, and the Quad City Mallards back to the Black Hills. The Rush will welcome their new West Division rivals: the three-time Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces, two-time Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads, the Utah Grizzlies, and the archrivals of the Rush, the Colorado Eagles. Additionally, the Fort Wayne Komets make a return to the Black Hills to play the Rush for the first time in three seasons.
Of the 36 home games for the 2015-16 season, 27 are played on Fridays and Saturdays. The lone Thursday game the Rush play is against the Tulsa Oilers on New Year's Eve, the first time the Rush have played on December 31st since the 2012-13 CHL season. There are two Wednesday night matchups this season, and one is part of the "Holiday Hat Trick" that takes place during the week of Thanksgiving. For the first time in team history, the Rush will play at home on Sunday three different times. The Rush play a trio of Tuesday night games, with one of them being part of a home-and-home series with the Eagles. Lastly, there are two three-game-in-three-night sets to be played at home this season in late February and early March.
"We are very excited to celebrate New Year's Eve in the Black Hills with a home game for the first time in three seasons," continued Ferras. "We are looking for ways to reach out to potential fans, and are excited to host three Sunday home games for the first time in team history. With jumping in quickly to the ECHL this season, and our fans seeing the tremendous level of hockey, we are excited about our home schedule release, seeing new teams for the first time, and old foes in Tulsa, Allen, and Missouri, but we are especially excited to rekindle our oldest and fiercest rivalry with the Colorado Eagles in the not-so-friendly confines of Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center."
