Fort Wayne, IN | By Doug Gruber | Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 --- The Komets got a look at their rookies Thursday night in a pre-season match against the Dayton Gems at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.

The K's skated away with a 3-2 exhibition win.

With 3 regular defensemen sitting out the contest so coach Al Sims could evaluate the newcomers, veteran Sean O'Connor scored the first Komet goal 13 minutes into the first period on a power play. Less than a minute later rookie Tyler Fletcher scored to give the K's a 2-0 lead.

Dayton scored the only goal in the 2nd period to close the Komet lead to 2-1.

Five minutes into the 3rd period Komet rookie Joe Bluhm gave the K's a 3-1 lead which turned out to be the winning goal when Dayton made it 3 to 2 with 3 minutes remaining in the game.
