
Bucks Fall to Bees in OT to Open Preseason

HIDALGO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-3 in overtime Thursday night at State Farm Arena in the preseason opener for both teams.
Tyler Burton scored just 1:03 into overtime on a two-on-one off of a pass from Greg Holt to give the Bees (1-0) the win. The Bucks and Bees each put up one shot in the extra session.
The Bucks (0-1-1) jumped out in front of the Bees early when Neil Trimm jammed home a rebound in front of the Bees net to give the Bucks a 1-0 lead 5:58 into the first period.
The Bucks were outshot in the first period 9-8.
Laredo would increase their lead to 2-0 just 2:12 into the second period when Joe Scali scored on a wrist shot from the top of the slot.
The Killer Bees would strike for two goals in a little over three minutes to tie the game at 2-2. Joe McCann jammed in a rebound in front of the Bucks net to cut Laredo's lead to 2-1 at the 7:08 mark of the second. Aaron Lee then tied the game with a shorthanded goal on a two-on-two break when he sent a wrister in from the slot 10:22 into the period.
The Bucks would re-take the lead at 3-2 when Reid Edmondson scored on a blistering shot from the top of the slot while the Bucks were on the power-play 11:51 into the second.
Rio would tie the game again with 1:21 left in the second when Rob Cowan scored right in front of the Bucks net.
The Bucks were outshot once again in the second period this time by a 12-11 tally.
The game was tied at 3-3 entering the third period but neither team could light the lamp and claim the game in regulation. The Bucks were outshot in the third period 11-9.
Adam Avramenko stopped 29 of 33 shots for the Bucks while Dan Rosen set aside 19 of 21 shots to pick up the win for the Bees. Juliano Pagliero stopped seven of eight shots in the first period before being replaced by Rosen.
The Bucks were outshot 33-29 in the game.
The game was delayed for 25 minutes due to a power outage right before warm-ups.
Jeff Bes and Serge Dube coached the game for the Bucks behind the bench while Terry Ruskowski evaluated players from the press box.
The Bucks played without several of their top players as Bes, Dube, Jarred Mohr, Chris Korchinski, Mark O'Leary and Pier Pelletier did not suit up.

BUCKS HOST LEGENDS NIGHT OCTOBER 23RD
The Bucks announced that they will hold the first-ever Legends Night during the October 23rd home opener at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks will welcome back several legendary players from the first eight seasons and honor them throughout the night when the Bucks host Rio Grande Valley. Group tickets start at just $10, call 718-BUCK (2825) to order now.
Bucks' legends that are returning to Laredo that night are Chris Grenville, Steve Simoes, Mike Amodeo, Igor Agarunov, Paul Elliott, and other players to be announced.
During the game the Bucks will honor the legends on the ice as well as with video tributes on the jumbo tron.
Also during the game fans can vote for the legend that they want to be the first member of the new Laredo Bucks Hall of Fame. The first member of the hall of fame will be determined by combination of the fan vote, legends vote and Bucks front office staff vote. More information on the Bucks Hall of Fame will be announced in the coming weeks.
PUBLIC SKATE OPEN HOUSE FRIDAY OCT. 22nd
The night before the home opener on Friday October 22nd the Bucks will host a public skate open house at Laredo Energy Arena from 6:30-9:30pm. Admission to the public skate is $5 for a 45 minute skating session.
The Bucks' legends and the entire 2010-11 Bucks team will be at the public skate to sign autographs and take pictures with fans. Bucks fans will also get their first glimpse of the Cricket Mayor's Cup as it will be on hand at the skate also. Bucks staff will be available to answer questions about purchasing season, group or single game tickets.
Season ticket holders will get a FREE HOT DOG AND SODA during the public skate (while supplies last). There will also be a special season ticket holder's area that night.
