Sundogs Release Minieri

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has released defenseman Michael Minieri (pronounced meh-NAIR-ee) from its training camp roster.

Minieri split the 2009-10 season between the North East Professional Ice Hockey League (NEPHL) and the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). The 6-foot-1, 210-pound defenseman appeared in 29 games with the NEPHL's New York Aviators collecting one goal, seven assists and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) before joining the AIHL's Gold Cost Blue Tongues to close out the season. In 13 games with Gold Coast, Minieri tallied three goals, seven assists and two PIM.

The Sundogs now have 25 players in camp. Goaltender Levente Szuper has yet to arrive and is awaiting immigration approval.

The Sundogs will face off against the defending Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Champion Rapid City Rush in a pair of preseason games on Saturday, Oct. 9 (6:05pm Arizona time) and Sunday, Oct. 10 (5:05pm Arizona time) at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. Both games will be broadcast live on KDDL 'Cattle Country' 94.3 FM, the Official Radio Home of Arizona Sundogs Hockey.

Arizona opens the 2010-11 regular season on the road against the Colorado Eagles on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6:05pm (Arizona time) and returns home to host the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:05pm.
