
Komet Frankie Deangelis Named All-CHL Defenseman

Fort Wayne, IN -- The CHL announced Monday the 2011-12 All-CHL Team which includes Fort Wayne Komet defenseman Frankie DeAngelis.
DeAngelis, 26, was chosen to the squad as voted on by the 14 head coaches in the CHL. The Woodbridge, Ontario native currently leads Fort Wayne defensemen and ranks second among CHL defensemen with 42 points. He also ranks second among all defensemen with a career high 17 goals after appearing in all 62 games to date.
Also honored alongside DeAngelis on defense was Rapid City's Riley Weselowski. Shawn Limpright (Rapid City), Brandon Marino (Quad City) and Todd Robinson were the honored forwards. Mark Guggenberger (Texas) was the honored goaltender named to the All-CHL Team for 2011-12.
DeAngelis is also one of five finalists for CHL Most Outstanding Defenseman of the Year which will be announced Friday.
DeAngelis, skating this third pro season since making his career debut in 2009 with the Komets, was also selected to the 2009-10 IHL All-Rookie Team after leading Komet defensemen his rookie year with 32 assists and topping IHL defensemen in plus/minus with plus-31. Last season DeAngelis received the Komets' Defenseman of the Year team award after pacing the Komets with 33 assists and 44 points for 2010-11.
Komets conclude regular season slate this week-- It's the final week of the season and the Komets have four games in five nights. Wednesday the week begins with a visit by Quad City at 7:30pm. Friday begins a triple-header weekend against Dayton to finish the season. The Gems visit Friday for an 8pm faceoff. The two teams meet at Hara Arena in Dayton Saturday night at 7:00 and the Komets return home to host Dayton in the season finale Sunday at 5pm.
